Originally NAEF was
only involved in "agricultural" mechanization
but it soon became apparent that farmers were taking
these technologies outside of strict agricultural boundaries
(how dare they:-) into rural non-farm sectors such as
agro processing and especially transportation. Indeed,
this inter-sectoral nature of our technologies like
the two-wheel tractor is critical for maximizing incomes
and successful payback of the loans taken by the owners,
but also increasing the services to surrounding farmers.
Since that realization NAEF has begun to actively promote
mechanization of the rural transport sector though activities
such as:
Production and promotion of two-wheel tractor trailers
- since 2000 more than 4000 trailer locally manufactured
in Nepal..
Research, Development and Promotion
of locally made Intermediate Means of Transport -
three wheelers
Promotion and credit for
flatbed/rural rickshaws
