Renewable
Rural Energy is NAEF's most recent area of entry. In
our earlier work we slowly recognized that besides having
inadequate access to new agro based Resource Conserving
Technologies the rural poor's lack of access to energy
sources, renewable or otherwise, contributes to higher
costs of production and lower yields.
We have begun work in two directions:
First is the focus on agro-based biomass
energy. We have found here in Nepal and most other developing
countries, that biomass energy really means project
for forest and forest products. There is al dearth in
programs looking at agro-biomass energy technology choices.

our work and these agro-biomass technologies and the
impact it is having on lives of the rural poor.
Our second and most recent focus has
been on biofuel and particularly biodiesel. Though still
in a R&D phase we feel these technologies can quickly
emerge to help Nepalese famers and rural industries.
