Renewable
Rural Energy is NAEF's most recent area of entry, but
in our work we quickly recognized that besides having
inadequate access to new agro based Resource Conserving
Technologies was the rural poor's lack of access to
energy sources, renewable or otherwise, that contributes
to higher costs of production and lower yields. We have
found here in Nepal that national and international
proponents of rural / renewable energy have narrowly
focused on improved stove (bikash chhulo), hydro, bio-gas,
and solar technologies. There are several proven pro-poor
biomass and biofuel technologies from here and in the
region , that have little or no government or international
attention or support (which continuously amazes us here
in NAEF).
