| As a strategic goal NAEF wants to bring our
technologies and their benefits to the world at large.
NAEF intends to register itself in the coming year as
an "international " Non-Governmental Organization.
Below are accounts of some of our international activities.

Promotion of Two and four-Wheel Tractors in Haiti-
Fall 2008
With funding from World Concern and guidence from Peter
Hobbs and NAEF a twenty foot container of Chinese two
and four-wheel tractors and zero till drills and planters
from Brazil arrived in summer 2008 and once the hurricane
season dies down a 4 week long intensive conservation agriculture,
and agricutural mechanization training of trainers will take
place in Les Cayes, Haiti. Contact Christon
Domond or Roger
Oakland for more information.
Promotion of Chinese Two-Wheel Tractors (2WTs) in
Afghanistan
In October 2005 NAEF was asked by Joint
Development Consultants, an INGO based in Mazar Sharif
to aid in demonstration and testing of 2WTs and 2BG6A seeders
in northern Afghanistan. During multiple visits over the next
two years NAEF has help to establish an import company for
these machinery, aided in obtaining financing for farmers/owner
operators, and establishing a national innovation system in
support of 2WTs in Afghanistan that includes other importers,
mechanics, national and international agencies. I our last
visit in January and February 2007 NAEF's Ashok Chaudhary
and Scott Justice lead a two-wheel tractor training of trainers
for 2-wheel tractor mechanics in Mazar-Sharif, that included
10 private sector mechanics, engineers from Ministry of Agriculture
and Livestock, and operators from JDA and Solidarities
Afghanistan, and JDA.
Promotion of Chinese Two-Wheel Tractors (2WTs) in
Nigeria
In 2002 Bauchi State imported 500 sets of 2WTs, reduced till/zero
till seeders, trailers. In 2003 they sold 100 sets to the
Zamfara State Government. In 2004 Dr. Jose Valencia , Sasakawa
Global 2000's Country Director for Malawi and Nigeria came
across a storage area in Gusau's State's tractor rental service
where nearly 100 2WTs were sitting outside under the sun.
THough new they looked ancient he said. After talking with
Peter Hobbs and others about their success in south Asia he
contacted NAEF to attempt to jumpstart sales. In short we
found that the simple "engineering/operators" training
provided by the Chinese supplier had not stimulated interests
of the farmers or the state ag engineers. The 3 week CA, rural
mechanization, private sector service provider training held
in Gusau all 500 of the tractors and accessories were sold
within a year. For more information download our draft paper

Web-based International Discussion on Mechanization
via 2-Wheel Tractors in Africa
What stared as a couple of passed emails between John
Morrison, (Engineering for Conservation Agriculture Retired,
USDA-ARS Tillage-Research Engineer Adjunct Professor, University
of Tennessee USA) and Scott Justice, NAEF, Nepal, in September
2005, developed into an informal international e-conference.
John's original enquiry related to the potential introduction
of 2-wheel tractors in conjunction with current adoption efforts
in conservation agriculture (CA) in East and South Africa.
The following is a summary and commentary written by Johnon
the unique contributions by 11 international experts on a
current topic.
