Reduced till seed drill

The Chinese 6 row reduced till seed drill (Model # 2BG6A) can plow and sow wheat, rice, mung and other small seed crops in a single pass. It can plow and seed one hectare (30 Katha) in 4-6 hours depending on the size, shape and moisture content of the fields. It is very efficient and though the numbers sold are low (30 – 40 pieces only) it has given very good return to the owers and the renters like it very much due to the very good soil tilth, even establishment and very good emergence of seed. One reason why adoption may be so low is the cost. It started at around 35,000 NRs 8 years ago but now costs over 50,000 NRs. Another reason for low adoption is that there is no road wheel or seat which causes greater fatigue for the operators/owners. Several new models of these drills have come onto the market in China and have rear wheel and seats as well as fertilizer meters (see second photo below). Rental cost of these seeders is approximately 500 NRs / hour or 7-8 USD. Famers report a saving of over 40% and only have to visit the fields one time for plowing and sowing.
